Contemporary Innovations in Clinical Suicidology

Program Description: Clinical suicidology is a subspecialization within suicidology focused on clinical assessment and treatment of patients who are suicidal. This field is dynamic with new breakthroughs in screening, clinical assessment of suicidal states, and suicide-specific treatments, with implication for mental health policy for reducing suicide-related suffering and deaths. 

Program Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

1. Describe approaches to assessing suicidal risk
2. Describe evidence-based approaches for treating suicidal risk
3. Describe the policy implications of clinical suicidology for decreasing suicidal suffering and behaviors.

Credits Offered: 1 Continuing Education Credit for psychologists and educators. (75% score or higher required)

The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists.  PPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is an approved provider for Act 48 Continuing Professional Education Requirements as mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
