PPA Committees

Communications Board

Publications Committee
Oversees the quarterly publication of The Pennsylvania Psychologist, providing updates on governance actions, public policy, and professional insights. The committee includes a chairperson and editorial consultants who guide content in collaboration with PPA leadership.

Electronic Media Coordination Committee (EMCC)
Manages and coordinates PPA's communication platform (myPPA), setting policies to ensure smooth operation and making improvements for enhanced member engagement.

Internal Affairs Board

Awards Committee
Honors individuals who have significantly contributed to psychology. The committee selects recipients for awards recognizing distinguished service, contributions to psychology, and public service.

Budget and Finance Committee
Develops and reviews the annual budget to ensure PPA's financial stability. Membership includes key officers and selected members, with a focus on enhancing fiscal health.

Legislative and Governmental Affairs Committee
Review legislation impacting psychology and build partnerships with health and education agencies. This committee also advocates for PPA's policy priorities.

Membership Committee
Drives recruitment and retention efforts for PPA members, updating materials, and developing programs to promote membership engagement.

Nominations and Elections Committee
Oversees the nomination and election processes for PPA positions. The committee is led by the immediate past president and includes representatives from various boards within PPA.

Professional Psychology Board

Ethics Committee
Provides guidance on ethical standards for psychologists, proactively sharing information and addressing ethical concerns within the profession.

Insurance Committee
Advises members on reimbursement issues and monitors laws affecting payment for psychological services across Pennsylvania.

Integrated Care Committee
Educates members on working within integrated health systems, such as medical homes, through resources, articles, and workshops.

Program and Education Board

Leadership and Professional Development Committee
Reviews and enhances PPA-sponsored programs, encouraging member engagement in continuing education. This committee hosts quarterly calls to discuss event feedback and new ideas.

Proposal Selection Committee
Selects proposals for PPA events, including conferences and the Annual Convention. Members review proposals and provide recommendations on event content.

Public Interest Board

Child & Family Forensics Committee
Supports psychologists working in family law and child custody by developing educational programs for attorneys and judges on the role of psychological services in these areas.

Colleague Assistance Committee
Promotes activities to support the well-being and professional functioning of Pennsylvania psychologists.

Public Education Committee
Raises public awareness of psychology's role in mental health, creating media content, public service announcements, and supporting the APA's Public Education Campaign.

School Psychology Board

School Psychology Communications Committee
Educates members on school psychology practices through publications, workshops, and online resources.

Outreach and Liaison Committee
Fosters collaboration with allied organization, supports early career school psychologists, and promotes diversity. The committee also recommends candidates for the School Psychology Board Award.

Public Policy Committee
Advocates for public policies in education and child psychology, educating members on relevant legislation and developing policy positions on school psychology issues.
