Act 31 FAQ
DOS Statement on Act 31

What does this mean for you? Additional requirements and changes to your informed consent notice along with extra work and stress. The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is alleviating these extra worries for you.

PPA has designed a continuing education program that has been approved by the Department of Public Welfare and the Pennsylvania Department of State to meet the Act 31 requirements. These credits will also count towards the 30 hours required for licensing renewal for psychologists. The home study is available in hard copy or online. PPA also has a recorded webinar option.

Home Studies allow you to complete this requirement at your convenience, whenever and wherever you have the time. No travel, extravagant costs, or rearrangement of your schedule is necessary.

By completing either home study program you will meet the requirements for Act 31 credits, as well as earn CE credits.

The reporting for this mandatory training program differs from the reporting for ordinary continuing education. All licensees must prove that they have fulfilled their Act 31 requirements before they can have their licenses renewed.

Other opportunities to complete these required credits will be available. Every continuing education provider who is authorized to fulfill the Act 31 requirements must transmit their information to the Pennsylvania Department of State. Licensees who fail to provide this information will not be recorded as having fulfilled their Act 31 requirements and will not have their licenses renewed.
