Professional Bio

I am a licensed psychologist and in 2011 co-founded the Village Center for Holistic Therapy, a behavioral-health group practice serving the Pittsburgh region.
My work is grounded in existential, phenomenological, humanistic, and depth psychology. I remain interested in psychology as a human science: a discipline concerned not only with symptoms and diagnoses, but also with lived experience, meaning, embodiment, relationships, culture, freedom, and responsibility.
My professional path has included clinical practice and supervision, university teaching, behavioral-health research, workforce development, grant writing, and clinician training. I have worked across community mental health, addiction treatment, program evaluation, and clinical education on projects supported by SAMHSA, NIDA, and NIAAA.
Earlier in my career, I co-founded and served as an editor of Janus Head, an interdisciplinary journal of Continental philosophy, phenomenological psychology, literature, and the arts. Managing peer review, editing scholarly work, and collaborating with colleagues including the late Brent Robbins deepened my commitment to dialogue across psychology, philosophy, and the humanities.
I served the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association from 2013 to 2018, first as a board member and then for four years as president. That experience strengthened my commitment to professional community, advocacy, ethical practice, and sustainable clinical work.
I earned my PhD in Psychology from Duquesne University. My dissertation, A Historical Phenomenology of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, received the Sidney M. Jourard Student Research Award from the Society for Humanistic Psychology. I have published and presented on phenomenological psychology, behavioral-health systems, spirituality and addiction treatment, research-to-practice translation, and clinical workforce development.
