Professional Bio

Dr. I. Bruce Frumkin is board-certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is a nationally-recognized expert in the area of competency to waive Miranda rights, psychological vulnerabilities related to false or coerced confessions, interrogations, and intellectual disability. He has conducted more than 800 disputed confession-related evaluations and has testified in court approximately 200 times on these issues. He has authored and co-authored a number of publications pertaining to rights’ waivers and confessions.
Dr. Frumkin earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. He is the Director of Forensic and Clinical Psychology Associates, P.A., with offices in Philadelphia, Miami, New York City, and Chicago. Dr. Frumkin has presented at a number of regional, national and international conferences to psychology and legal communities. He has held a number of positions including President to the Florida Psychological Association, Council member to the American Psychological Association, Forensic Psychology Chair and Member at Large for Division 42 (Psychologists in Independent Practice), Division 41 (American Psychology-Law Society), Liaison to APA’s Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice (CAPP), Commissioner for the Commission for the Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Professional Practice (CRSPPP), and Member of APA’s Committee on Professional Practice and Standards (COPPS). His was also on the APA Committee responsible for revising the Child Custody Guidelines.
In addition to the areas described above, Dr. Frumkin’s specializations also include the evaluation of malingering and deception, child sex abuse and civil commitment of sexually violent predators, competency to stand trial, insanity, multicultural forensic assessment, and aggravation and mitigation factors in death penalty litigation.
