Professional Bio
training in community psychology included testing and assessment, and clinical work in the context of the
impacts of the community in which the individual lives. Post-graduate training at the Marriage Council
of Philadelphia (now the Council for Relationships) taught an intersystems approach, an integrated schema
that includes understanding influences of the community, family, and the individual when assessing a case,
whether individual or relationship, furthering that wholistic approach to clinical assessments.
Elissa applies this comprehensive and integrated approach in her psychotherapy practice (in practice since
1986) and the immigration evaluations she has been conducting since 2018.
