Professional Bio
Dr. Brian Schurr is a licensed psychologist who earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Marywood University in 2012. He is trained to provide therapeutic services to address a variety of mental health concerns. Brian believes that in order for change to occur, a person must feel respected and understood within the therapeutic relationship. He works to create a safe and trusting environment where clients can feel free to openly explore their areas of concern. Brian strives to meet his clients where they are and devotes time to building upon strengths that already exist. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings throughout his career which has helped him to see the benefits of working to explore the unique world view of each of his clients. Brian integrates a variety of counseling techniques into his work including an exploration of interpersonal relationships, an examination of the intersection between one’s patterns of thinking, feelings, and behavior (also known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and helping his clients to develop a deeper and more effective relationship with their emotions. Brian is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. l
