Assessment and Clinical Response to Suicide Intent or Motivation to Die

Program Description: This program will address the assessment of suicide intent, identifying the various elements of intent, along with the critical distinction between acute and chronic suicide risk. Domains covered include the nature of suicidal thinking, motivational, trait suicidality, and suicide-oriented behavior. Clinical examples and video will be provided, along with targeted interventions across domains. 

Program Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

1. Become comfortable assessing multiple domains of suicide intent/motivation to die
2. Differentiate acute and chronic suicide risk
3. Learn a number of clinical management interventions demonstrated useful for responding to motivation to die 

Credits Offered: 1 Continuing Education Credit for psychologists and educators. (75% score or higher required)

The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists.  PPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is an approved provider for Act 48 Continuing Professional Education Requirements as mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
