Ethical Considerations for Interjurisdictional Practice
Continuing Education | Webinar
Program Description: With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of telehealth sessions became increasingly prevalent. With this increase in virtual sessions, many clinicians faced scenarios where their patients were located outside the jurisdictions in which they were licensed, which created new questions related to practicing across interjurisdictional lines. This workshop will focus on strategies for practicing ethically, legally, and in a patient's best interest clinically across interjurisdictional lines. There will be a focus on the pros and cons of PSYPACT as an option for interjurisdictional practice, as well as alternatives for providing services via telehealth in other jurisdictions, both nationally and internationally.
Program Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the ethical and legal implications of practicing in other jurisdictions
2. Identify strategies for providing good clinical care with clients in other jurisdictions.
3. Describe the process of obtaining approval to practice under PSYPACT.
