Regional Advocacy Day - Pittsburgh

Join PPA for a Regional Advocacy Day in Pittsburgh. This CE event will discuss the legislative process, state and federal legislation on PPA’s agenda, and the importance of political advocacy for psychologists in Pennsylvania. The program includes a reception, and a chance to interface with invited legislators and/or staff.

In this training session, participants will gain an understanding of the legislative process and how it works. PPA staff will brief you on current state and federal legislative issues of importance to psychologists (such as the start school later bill, and telemedicine).  In addition, initiatives of APA will be discussed. At the end of the workshop, attendees will have a chance to interact with legislators to discuss some of these issues in greater detail.

TRAINING SESSION LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the training session, “Psychologists: Advocating for Your Clients and Your Profession,” participants will be able to understand:

1. The legislative process in Pennsylvania;
2. Proposed legislation creating a Department of Education Study on starting school later and telepsychology;
3. Legislative initiatives of APA;
4. Why it is important for psychologists to be politically active and how they can do so.

“Psychologists : Advocating for Your Clients and Your Profession” is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.  PPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  PPA maintains responsibility for the program.  Two continuing education credits will be offered to participants of this workshop.

The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors to sponsor continuing education for National Certified Counselors.  We adhere to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines.  Certificates of Completion will be mailed to participants who attend the entire workshop and complete the evaluation form.  Partial credits will not be given.
