The Accidental Purposeful Online Professor

Moving a face-to-face course online does not make it an online course – it just presents new and different challenges to the instructor teaching it. PPA is offering a webinar, open to all full-time, part-time and adjunct faculty for undergraduates or graduate students in psychology, to share experiences, ask questions and navigate roadblocks in the new “normal” of virtual classrooms. Submit questions ahead of time, or ask them live!

Program Description:  Moving a face-to-face course online does not make it an online course – it just presents new and different challenges to the instructor teaching it. PPA is offering a webinar, open to all full-time, part-time and adjunct faculty for undergraduates or graduate students in psychology, to share experiences, ask questions and navigate roadblocks in the new “normal” of virtual classrooms. Submit questions ahead of time, or ask them live! This will be an interactive workshop, with plenty of virtual conversation.

Program Learning Objectives: At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Describe at least two ways that courses that have been recently moved online are different from "online teaching";
2. Identify at least three strategies for engaging students in the accidentally-online classroom; and
3. Consider ethical issues that are unique to the online psychology course.
