Lead by Example

Psychologists possess many skills and attributes that position us well to serve as leaders. Our problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; our understanding of motivation and behavior change; our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging; and our adherence to ethical principles enable us to make tremendous differences in our workplaces, our professional organizations, our communities, and our world.

When we demonstrate these skills and characteristics in our own work, mentor others in ways that help them fulfill their own leadership goals, or advocate for systems and practices that promote the well-being of those we serve, we lead by example.

The goal of this year’s theme is to provide our members with opportunities to further develop their leadership-related skills so that they can lead more effectively in their workplaces and communities; lead through advocacy for evidence-based and ethical practices; and lead PPA into the future.
