STUDENT RESEARCH POSTER SESSION
The Pennsylvania Psychological Association's Convention Committee is sponsoring a Student Research Poster Session on Friday, in conjunction with the Annual Convention at the Hilton Harrisburg.
Any undergraduate or graduate student in a college or university in Pennsylvania completing psychological research (quantitative, qualitative, and advanced review) is encouraged to submit a poster proposal. Members of the Convention Committee will review all submissions and notify students regarding acceptance by May 10. The Convention Committee will also review submissions by May 10, for two $200 prizes (Undergraduate and Graduate) which may be awarded at the Annual Convention in June, during the Awards Ceremony.
POSTER SESSION SCHEDULE: The Research Poster Session will tentatively be located in the Metropolitan Room on the second floor of the Hilton Harrisburg. Set-up posters 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dismantle posters 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. We ask the poster presenters to preside at their posters during the "Conversations with the Research Poster Presenters” from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., so they can answer questions and discuss their work with the convention attendees.
Research submissions will be reviewed on the following criteria:
- Clarity of the project and writing style (APA format);
- Soundness of the research design;
- Clarity and soundness of the results and discussion
- Implications and contributions to the field;
- Relevance to the conference theme; and
- Student’s contributions to the project.
The PPA Annual Convention provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about current issues, major trends, and new approaches in psychology, as well as to meet psychologists from throughout Pennsylvania who are active in research, teaching, clinical practice, and social policy.
And, there is a special convention registration rate for students. On Friday, June 17, students who have had their presentations accepted for the Student Research Poster Session are also invited to attend the Annual Student and Early Career Psychologist Networking Reception which provides an opportunity for discussion of issues affecting students in psychology. Student and Early Career Psychologist programming will be available 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If you have any questions, please contact PPA at 717-232-3817.
We believe that students add a valuable contribution to our conventions.
Student involvement and participation are encouraged!
We look forward to your participation!
