The Pennsylvania Psychological Association's Business and Psychology
Partnership Committee has chartered itself to:
Raise the awareness of the business community about the
benefits of psychology applied to the business/corporate setting.
Educate psychologists about the challenges and opportunities
associated with business management, and the application of
psychological perspectives in a business setting.
Among many of the Business and Psychology Partnership Committee's
initiatives, we strive to recognize achievements by businesses
that lead to the "work-related well-being" of employees.
PPA and the Business and Psychology Partnership Committee formally
recognize Pennsylvania-based businesses with the Psychologically
Healthy Workplace Award. The Award, which includes a signed proclamation
from the Governor, acknowledges the efforts utilized by companies
to develop and maintain supportive environments. The awards will
be given out In June at the PPA Annual Convention.
Although there are unlimited reasons to have a psychologically
healthy workplace, some of the factors most clearly evident to
employers include:
· Increased productivity, resourcefulness and creativity
· Improved morale and outlook
· Retention of high quality employees
· Reduced healthcare costs
· Reduced absenteeism
· Minimized job injuries and accidents costs
On behalf of PPA and its Business and Psychology Partnership
Committee, I challenge you to gauge your company's level of "psychological
health." Here is the first step:
Link to our "self-assessment,"
then complete it to gain perspective on your company's practices
that promote or detract from its psychological health.
We look forward to partnering with you to help develop the most
supportive and psychologically healthy environment possible. Please
feel free to contact PPA should
you have any questions about our Business and Psychology Partnership
Committee or the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award.
